Many of you looking at this listing would have heard of the Blue Hawaii and the Carbon amp even though you are currently stuck on one of the crappy amps offered by Stax. Many of you would not have heard one of those legendary amps yourselves, and only learned about their sonic profiles from online reviews.
I wanna introduce everyone to the modern Blue Hawaii: the grounded grid, designed by the designer of carbon and blue hawaii himself. Grounded grid is a fusion of the Carbon and Blue Hawaii. It is based on the stable and outstanding circuits of the Carbon but uses vacuum tubes as outputs, improved servo stage that keeps the stability of the two channels.
It is hyper resolving, powerful and dynamic. It enables tube rolling as well. As an experienced amp builder, I can say with conviction that this sounds more nuanced and endearing than the carbon, even on beginner tubes. The GG's downsides include being tube-based and fragile. Also it opens up the Pandora's box of tube rolling.
